Residency on the Water

Residency on the Water – Tuesday 11th July – Saturday 15th July, 12-6pm
All happening on the Village Butty Community Boat moored at Mile End Park E3

You are invited to join a small group (8-10 people) for a 5 day residency on the London Canals, exploring collective learning, sustainable living and creativity for positive social change.

The main space for the residency will be on the Village Butty, a floating community hall, which will be based in Mile End. Take a look here. This will be used as a hub where we can meet, eat, work, plan, and celebrate. The week is free and there will be lunch each day and resources provided.

There will be a few hours each day for individual work, alongside more structured time for collaborative projects. This may include puppetry, poetry, music, creative direct action, visual arts… or whatever floats your boat.

The week will be focused on creating positive alternatives in the face of environmental and economic crises through living collectively, using permaculture design to lower our impact on the environment and creating individual and collective work that we can share with the local and wider community.

The residency will run 12-6pm Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th and you will need to come for the full 5 days to experience to full flow of the Residency on the Water. There will be space within this for participants themselves to shape the residency as we go.

Saturday 15th July:
The Residency will culminate in an all day local community event
in Mile End with space to exhibit the outcome of the residency, be it physical artworks, a creative action, performance or something else.
